Lurgan Tigers have kicked off the new season with the announcement of a fulltime development officer. In the previous 3 seasons the club have had a part-time officer, however this year the position has been made permanent.

 

The Youth Development Officer, Jonny Gillespie, will be going into local primary and secondary schools to role out coaching programmes for boys and girls of all ages.

 

To fund the post the Tigers are running a series of fundraisers throughout the year as well as selling off months to sponsors. September was snapped up local firm James Hamilton Group. The company better known for supplying ‘back to school’ products and stationary through one of its’ businesses, Craigavon Office Supplies, were keen to support the initiative.

 

The Tigers now hope to attract more support from local businesses and in order that further months of rugby and cricket coaching can be delivered. If your school is interested in contacting the YDO to arrange coaching or you would like to sponsor the scheme please email jonny_lurgan@btinternet.com.
